Holden turned 4 on May 18th. We began the very rainy day with his 4 year check-up. Holden is above average for height and weight and healthy (the doctor remarked on his strength). I spoke at some length with Dr. Later regarding Holden’s anxiety and other concerns. I need to keep a close eye on Holden to make sure that he continues to progress and does not plateau. Also that day we went to McDonald’s for lunch and then to Chuck E. Cheese (Holden’s choice). It was so nice to have daddy around for 2 hours in the middle of the day and it pleased us very much to play and observe the kids. It was especially fun because Chuck E. Cheese was nearly deserted.
I was looking forward to observing Holden at his birthday party to see how he interacted with the other children. He was very excited for his friends to come and I was happy to note him playing well and joining in all the activities. I let him decide what he wanted to do for his party and he chose almost the same things we did for Marcus’ party – a trailer ride and an Easter egg hunt (can you blame him?). In addition, we threw parachute men off the roof, had a water gun fight, blew bubbles, traced everyone with sidewalk chalk, and went on a nature walk. We ate pizza, sang happy birthday, and opened presents too. The weather was ideal and Holden had a great time.
Thank you to Erin for being the photographer!

| Kjell let the birthday boy join him on the roof. Later I saw Marcus wandering around up there unsupervised...if you thought I was laissez faire, meet my husband Kjell. |

| We hung out on the front lawn for a bit while Kjell and Grant hid the Easter eggs. Here we are blowing bubbles. |
